Hi, I'm Juliet Patrick, and I've spent years running small businesses in the real world. Not from an office, but hands-on and in the thick of it. First a marquee hire business, then a horse rug cleaning business. Both built from scratch, both eventually sold for a profit.

So I know what it's like to spend all day doing the work, then come home to an evening of chasing invoices, booking jobs and answering emails, trying to keep all the plates spinning. Like most sole traders, I was always looking for ways to work smarter, because there was no budget to work bigger and no time to work harder. If that sounds familiar, you're in good company.

I started In The Field AI because every bit of advice about AI, productivity and business systems seems aimed at companies with IT departments and fat budgets. Freelancers, sole traders and microbusinesses are, as usual, an afterthought. We're used to being poorly served by software companies, advice services and the government, all while we're the ones out doing the work and keeping the economy ticking over. Nobody was building anything for us, so I decided to.

I'm not here to turn you into a tech expert or preach about the glories of AI. I just want to help you save time, reduce stress and run your business more easily, using a mix of common sense, simple systems and affordable AI tools.

I've also written a book, In The Field AI: A Practical Field Guide to AI for Sole Traders and Microbusinesses, and I built this website to share what I've learned running businesses myself.
